Introduction to my story

How to survive the end of the world
by Ashley Collins

'You know the end of the world' My mum started.
'I've got a plan'.

That was when it all started. Living underground I mean, no space, no sun, no nothing. At first, days went so quick, living was a punishment. It was just wake up, eat, sleep every single day. Until me and my family discovered a secret waiting to be discovered...

It was the day everyone knew the world would end, but instead of a day full of strange events, it felt surprisingly normal. A small part of my mind told me that there must have been a mix-up, but no, today was definitely the day. I found it hard to believe that everyone was smiling, skipping around town happily and rushing in and out of shops. I suppose they were trying to make their best out of their last day on earth.

We had no school today so my classmates were all at home,  praying to God that everything would be all right. I could just imagine them lying on a praying mat wearing praying clothes with their hands together. Okay, I don't think that would be nearly what would be going on, but it would have been something like that. I do know though, that I'd never be one of those girls spending almost a whole day praying to God. I'm not even Catholic.

Meet me, Ashley Collins, the kind of girl who couldn't live without technology. Honestly, I think I can also be a bit of a spoilt brat. But remember, I only said a bit, so watch that mouth of yours. You know just like small things, for example: If my mum says I can't stay up only 15 minutes longer I kick a whole in the wall and break some of her porcelain dolls. Now there's a collection of my kicks on the wall of my mum's bedroom. But it has to be said, that's only fair.
